I'm in Year 10, i'm looking at my future college courses and have decided i want to a Level 2 Animal Care which is a diploma and then onto a Level 3 Animal Management (Zoo and Conservation) diploma. I'm confused on how colleges and Universities work with qualifications and grades. Is my diploma a BTEC? Is i a A level? Do i need to do other basic A levels with the course: such as English and Maths? Can i use my GCSE grades to get into my Level 3 diploma too? How do they mark work? What are credits? As in high school, we don't get told any of this, i don't get how any of it works. I just want to help animals and i need people to know that i qualify for the job and i'm willing to get there. Please help, my future awaits (i know it's early for me, but i'm a perfectionist)

For universities they are also worth UCAS points as are A levels. Unis sometimes specify how many UCAS points you need for a course based on grades and how many qualifications i.e 3 A levels. You can see how many UCAS points your qualifications are worth by looking at the UCAS calculator
