Should I 'specialise' early

Within biological sciences there are many fields and bachelor options offered in the same uni like microbiology, biochemistry, cell biology etc. I've heard that if you're unsure of what to choose you can take the 'general biology course' and you can specialise as you progress through your bachelors. Since I'm unsure in what area I would like to specialise this would be the best option for me however Im wondering whether there is a disadvantage in taking the general biolgy course rather than 'specialising'early on (for example taking microbiolgy). Someone pls help haha:biggrin:

There's no rush to 'specialise' as if you plan to stay in the sciences you will go on to do a masters if not a PhD so there's plenty of time. Lots of people move around even at postdoc level. If you're unsure of your interests then take something general and explore your interests.
