For English Lit, yes, everyone who has a top 5 seems to have it in English Literature. Hardly ever in Maths/Sciences.
I got top 5 in maths, and so did another guy in my school. We also had 2 people get top 5 for electronics in our year.

I got a top 5 in DT Systems & Control out of, umm, 6800 candidates. And I know two people who got a top 5 in English Lit (out of 370000).

If you think about it, isn't it just as hard to get top 5 out of 7000 candidates as it is for something like 400000? If both subjects were marked out of 500, say, with the top 5 marks for each being 500, 499, 498, 497 and 496... think about it...

PS, doesnt everyone agree that AQA should at least tell you what position you got?
Why would they want to do that?

Just a quick question, I wanted to know what you actually get for a top 5 in the country.

I got top 5 in English Literature for GCSE (and I despise English and English Lit) , do I get to go to an award ceremony, a medal anything like that. Or just a letter.

    Thanks if you can help.

Same with me, I came in the top 3 for Maths and I got a letter for getting 99.6% uniform mark or something like that, and I just got a letter, but I am sure I got 100% uniform mark in everything for french apart from one dropped in an oral exam and I didn't get anything for that. I got 10 A*s (including Japanese studied for 2 years) and 2 As in total (one A in English language because I got a C in one speaking and listening and A* in the other, bah)

My RE GCSE was 100% exam. I got 100% in the exam. Did I get anything? No.

People who have got them please do remember the fact that it is just the top 5 marks. Although you might be, it doesn't mean you are in the top 5 in the country.
I think this is true since there seem to be a lot of unexplained instances where people are not in the top 5 or 10 when they should be.

i was so gutted to find out that 'top 5' means top 5 marks not top 5 people, and that in 2002 32 other people also achieved this
Really? I thought it was the top 5 people, hah! now i can tell my parents that this boy who got 2 Top 5's wasn't the top 5 people! Now they can stop bugging me about setting him as my role model

    YES! ... lol, thanks

so, Top 5 in the country means,
all the people at the following marks:
    100
    99
    98
    97
    96

that could be a lot of people then?
    couldn't it?
