Need a laptop for general use that will last a while. Budget of around £500. Which of these would you recommend? Feel free to link any other laptops you think might be better.

I would definitely reccomend the first one.
The HP laptop has double the cores ,double the processing power, and a longer battery life. I would say that the better processers mean it will last longer as well as being much quicker (you can even keep more tabs open)! The HP one is lighter also so better for carrying around. Whatever you choose hope you enjoy your new laptop!

I've had no troubles with HP but I have had acer laptops which have gone glitchy after a while.
I'd say the HP is much better as their specs are pretty similar but the HP has way better processing. I have an i5 processor on my laptop and it is soooo much better than my mum's i3 processor. It makes a huge difference to speed and will give a much better user experience.

HP one I think personally, it being an i5 processor rather than a i3 processor would make it faster than the other. It also generally looks sleeker and more professional

I would definately recommend the first one, which is similar to mine (mine is i7)

However take in account that it's HP WITH windows 10.

From my experience i have had a lot of hardware issues with HP laptops, especially with the screen and the audio jackets are normally hard to get used to.

Also take in account that the graphics aren't the best in HP laptops.

If u want laptops for general use however, i would recommend this to you, but not for gaming. For gaming, you're better off looking at MSI laptops, which can be useful for both work use and gaming. However their prices are normally higher at around 600-1200, and they also have integrated Nvidia graphics, which are pretty nice.

For a cheap MSI, i recommend this laptop:

else for general use (not much gaming) then the first one is better.
