I rally enjoy the human aspect of geography, population, migration, global interdependence etc. Don't like physical geography.

What degree subjects could I consider ? Hoping to apply to top 5.

Human Geography's a degree subject, here's the data (https://digital.ucas.com/search/resu...rrentView=List), otherwise politics is a good fit

Politics as I've said, it's the good bits of Geo, or IR maybe?

As above, apply for Human Geography (or find a Geography degree with lots of human modules). Subjects similar to Human Geography include Social Anthropology, Planning, Urban Studies, International Development/Development Studies and Social Policy.

Hi All,

I hope you are well during these unprecedented times.

Firstly, could I ask you what A Levels you are currently studying (and possibly the predicted grades)? Some of the degree courses which I have listed may not meet the entry requirements or may not be a great combination.
• Politics BSc(Hons)
o International Politics BSc(Hons)
o Politics with Sociology BSc(Hons)
o Politics and Criminology BSc(Hons)
• Sociology BSc(Hons)
o Sociology and Geography BSc(Hons)
o Sociology and Criminology BSc(Hons)
• Business BSc(Hons)
o International Business BA(Hons)
• Geography BSc(Hons)
o Human Geography BSc(Hons)

From your description, outlining your interest in Human Geography, demonstrates that you have a great interest in geopolitics. Maybe studying Politics BSc(Hons) or International Politics BSc(Hons) would meet that criteria.

A combination which you may want to consider is studying Geography and Sociology. The course details outline a combination of Geographical modules including population, migration, global interdependence. Whilst reflecting on how and why society behaves as a consequence.

Another example of degree courses which are slightly off topic but may also relate include Business BSc (Hons) and International Business BSc(Hons). You will likely explore how countries have become globally interdependent. How businesses operate in different countries and populations. Meeting two of the criteria you mentioned above.

Another degree to consider would be Geography BSc(Hons). Depending on the university you could select the modules more weighted towards human geography and select the physical modules you enjoy the most. Or if you decide not to study a related degree then you could consider Human Geography (BSc) Hons or BA (Hons)- depending on which university you attend.

I know that I have given you a lot of information so if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

All the best with your studies,

Best Wishes,

Sam Townsend | BSc(Hons) Geography Student at The University Of Huddersfield
