What is the importance of Banquo in Macbeth?

He represents Macbeth's guilt and what Macbeth could've been. Banquo chose not to listen to the prophecies and took the opposite path of Macbeth. He is the "good" character. He represents Macbeth's guilt in the ghost scenes especially. Hope I helped, at least the knowledge is good for something after the exam!

Ooh that's hard. I haven't read it in a while. Maybe look at the scene where Banquo and Macbeth meet the witches? Or when Banquo's ghost turns up to the Banquet?
