Dust will always be wherever you go and there are living things, because everything living will produce dust. Pollution, however, can be avoided a little by avoiding cities. Essentially by moving to a city you need to decide that you're willing to spend time in a polluted atmosphere. Also anyone considering having children needs to realise that the pollution in the world is increasing due to an increase in population and consuming valuable resources, and their children will always be exposed to that. You could wear one of those dust masks worn in Japan, but I don't think they actually make that much difference as the particles we inhale are so small that we can only see them when a lot are around, producing a polluting mist we refer to as smog.
