He was at a game I was at last year, people chatted to him, one of the coaches of the visiting team he remembered from their playing days. Not wearing a sheepskin coat as it was August bank holiday.

Football commentary by someone else is not the same.

Tbh I think he's overrated, as a commentator, though will be missed. Personally Clive Tyldesley and Martin Tyler are the best commentators of our generation.

He's an iconic figure that's for sure but I always liked the tones of Barry Davies personally. Earliest memory of Motty was his commentary for the Beckham goal at Wimbledon. 50 years is a fantastic achievement.

Should've retired about 15 years ago at least. Have always found him to be a pretty annoying commentator and panelist.
