AS LEVEL CHEMISTRY HELP please! it's so confusing

so i chose chemistry a level and we're doing redox reactions and i was okay during class because it's pretty easy but when i got home to revise over the lesson, i confused myself so much and i suddenly didn't understand a single thing i learnt! also, the extension tasks are so different from what we've learnt during class and it makes me feel so insecure when other kids manage to finish it so quickly. our teacher, for example, introduced valency of elements to us and she didnt even define it..i ended up confusing it for the oxidation number and i still don't understand the difference?......is getting confused an indication that the course isn't for me?? i find chem to be really exciting..i don't find it too difficult yet tho..
thank you so much! I've always heard such negative things about chemistry a level but i love science in general which is why i'm doing it! i don't want to struggle but i cant help but feel like the dumb one in the class...do u have tips on getting ahead of everyone else?

Noo no. Never ever do that! Just because you don't understand one topic doesn't mean that you should drop that subject. Try watching some youtube videos on that topic. Moreover you could go over to your teacher and ask her to explain it again during break time or something. This might also show her how interested you are in the subject. Also, Hope these websites helps you out! Good luck  http://www.chemguide.co.uk/
