Dentistry as backup

I will be taking a gap year to apply for medicine and I want someone to clarify if I can choose dentistry as a backup choice. I ask this as UCAS does not stop me from doing this with a warning.

Just think about it. Does your personal statement mention anything remotely about dentistry?

No? Automatically rejected.

If you mix up your PS between medicine and dentistry --> automatically rejected for both.

There is a reason people don't do it.

If you're applying a medicine a backup is something like biomedical science or biochemistry

I was simply asking if it was possible, not whether it's a sensible course of action since it obviously isn't. I simply found it intriguing as to why there is no choice limit on UCAS.
