So I'm trying to swap a subject at A level but it clashes with another subject I'm doing at A level so I couldn't attend it's classes so would the school allow me to self study the subject if I collect work from the class teacher? I have plenty of free periods to do so and I will revise it outside of school too

Unlikely. If they aren't teaching you a full programme there are issues with funding. You will only find out by asking them.
