Postgraduate funding for Masters

I had originally applied for PGCE and out in a funding application which was still being processed
The college running the PGCE had asked that because I had a DSA in place that I attend a Risk Assessment Panel back in July but have never scheduled this and as such withdrew me from enrolment and did not follow up references
As a result I have applied and been accepted on a MA Disability Studies course
Today I posted the form to cancel my PGCE finance and can only apply for the Postgraduate loan once this has been actioned
I know the maximum I can borrow is £10,280 and that this may take some time to process. I have savings to cover the first of 2 fee installments but this would very much clear me out and with a young son I need to know that the finance will be approved
I have also read that Career Development Loans are an option
My question is can these run simutaneously or can I only have one or the other
The Career Development Loan states I cannot have a loan and a grant but SFE postgraduate loans are not grants
The whole situation is very confusing so if anyone knows if both can run consecutively I would very much appreciate it. I assume that the answer is no and it would be better to wait for SFE - but is the amount guaranteed?

With career dev loans you say that you can't have another loan as well and the postgrad loan is a loan so that is your answer. You should really contact banks directly and see what they have to say as they may have different rules. It may be a question of your declaring what you have and they will only top it up and/or have a higher interest rate. With SFE you will just have to wait unfortunately but chasing may help
