Hey. My name is Joy. I’m from London & I want to study Children’s Nursing and would love BCU to give me a place. I’m looking forward to my accommodation at Belgrave View as it has music practice rooms which I can rehearse on the piano since it’s my passion, and now that I won’t be studying music like in the past it’ll be a great way to use my free time. I’m not nervous but would love to know people before joining as it’ll not make me a ‘lost sheep’. I already went to the open day and loved every bit of it

ps I’d love to keep in touch with anyone wanting to join BCU. 😊
Hi,

I have also applied to Child Nursing at BCU for the 2018 September intake, would love to keep in touch with other applicants for the same course, feel free to PM me!!

I have applied for radiography with foundation year (4 year course). I don’t have the necessary science requirements to go into the 3 year course so I’m hoping I’ll get in with my other qualifications this way. The course page says awaiting approval for September 2018 and the entry requirements say 88 ucas points which I more than have. I am wondering though about an interview. I know the straight bsc requires an interview and at least one day experience in a radiology department. Is it the same for the foundation route? I tried emailing admissions but I still don’t have a reply so 😕

Hey!
You'd be best contacting our course enquiries team about this. I suggest giving our advisers a call on 0121 331 5595. They're open 9am-5pm Mon-Fri.

Thanks,
Lydia

hey! I have an unconditional offer to study MA Education this September, is there anyone else who's confirmed a place here, or any other postgraduate applicants? really want to have a social life but worried about being 'too old' to socialise with freshers (I'll only be 21, but still lol)

I've applied to do psychology, but I'm going to be 20! It's something I've been wondering about too 😭

Hi, I'm applying for Primary Education at this unversity and at the open day the lecturer mentioned an exam in the second year. So my question is, what is the exam exactly? How will it affect my final grade? etc. thank you

Hey tiamaximen,

I wouldn't worry - there'll be plenty of postgraduate and mature (not straight out of college/6th form) students and everyone is welcome to get involved in freshers week. A few undergraduate students start around the age of 20/21 so you'll probably be the same age as a fair few BA students too

Hi SpaghettiHoops,

We don't know what the exam is on but that's right, first and third year are 100% coursework assessed, and second year is 80% coursework and 20% assessed on an exam.
If you're particularly stressed about exams, I wouldn't worry, the tutors will be really supportive and additional academic support is accessible.

You can find out more about the course modules or download the course specification on the course page here on the 'Course in depth' tab.

I hope that helps,
Lydia

I'm doing an undergrad but I'll be 24 when I start. I'm a bit worried too.

What will you be studying? I’m trying my best to not overthink it, I know it’s silly to be worried about because there’ll be so many mature students plus I’m sure there’s ways of socialising with everyone regardless of age. I was 18 when I started my undergrad and one of my flat mates was 22 (so turning 24 soon) and we’ve become really close friends!

Hey beefstrips!

Around 60% of our students are classed as 'mature' (over the age of 21) so you definitely won't be alone! Freshers events are open to everybody and we even have our own dedicated Students Union offer for mature students - you can find out more here.

All the best,
Lydia

Hey Ellen,

Everything you need to know about accommodation is here.

In terms of social life, there's loads of information on our website about Student life in Birmingham or you can see all the societies available on the SU website.

But to get a better idea of both, I'd definitely recommend coming to an Open Day if you haven't already. Our next one is on Saturday 24 March, but we have other dates if you can't make that one. Registration will be opening soon if you want to book a place, but you can register your interest here for now.

Hopefully we'll see you there!
Lydia
