I thought that was the case beforehand too. But I think a lot of the roles were O that were offered.

I could be wrong though. Might be details on the 2017 thread. I wasn’t a student room member then.

I think going from memory from that thread 2017 that people who were reserve after AC but not offered a place on programme were offered HO roles not sure if those are only ones offered HO roles.....

Its earlier in thread but someone said the Thursday/Friday session at Lincoln was cancelled and would be rescheduled.

They must be in the process of rescheduling then...

Anyone heard if the cancelled AC and people who couldn't attend AC last week due to weather have been rescheduled for this week or has HMRC extended the date from the 9th March (which is original last date)?

I'm waiting for them to reschedule as well! So frustrating, I almost killed myself driving up 7 hours in the snow and then they cancelled... weak

It depends a lot on what the business need is for your chosen location. If there's HO roles available which are suitable then you're likely to be offered one, if not but there are O jobs available you'll be offered one of those.

When you get your response after the AC it'll explain what the next step of the process is.

I think going from last year you'll either get a TSP offer at a specific location, a reserve list place, something saying that they may offer you a O or OH band or something saying you haven't met t requirements. You'll also get a timeframe.

TSP offers last year went out in batches from the end of March to the end of July. If you hadn't had a TSP offer by end of July you weren't going to get one. I think the band O and OH offers went out between August and end of October.

I was looking back to last years TSP thread and I'm pretty sure they were following the same timeline as us (with AC's finishing this week). There is a couple of people who posted next week saying they were successful/ unsuccessful. Fingers crossed it will be as quick as that or with the weather delays, the following week!

I think everyone feels like that. Its easy to focus on the things you think you’ve done wrong. But I am sure there will be lots of positives you’ve forgotten about! It’s a really challenging assessment centre.

I got offered an O role last year so even if you aren’t successful there is always the potential of a job offer

Hi, I keep reading about these O and HO roles..., this may seem silly, but what do they mean??
also, what is the work and salary like for said roles?

Many thanks,
M.

An O or EO (Officer or Executive Officer) grades are normally paid £23,836 (National) or £27,558 (London)
an HO or HEO (Higher Officer or Higher Executive Officer) grades are normally paid £29,652 (National) or £33,722 (London)

Each grade does quite different roles based on what business stream they are attached too and can be either a caseworker, manager or support staff. But generally speaking an HEO has higher responsibility than an EO.

Anyone know up until what point you can still change location preferences, if at all? Having a crisis of location judgement just in case I am successful.

Last few years people were allowed to change locations after they found out they were successful but I think a few weeks before location placements were sent out.

I would also like to confirm with others if they heard same thing at AC.... my group was told if you only put down one location they will try to put you there if successful moving people around who have put more choices down.... I put down several locations but thinking maybe its better to concentrate on top wish list to say and reduce locations willing to be placed at.

Is there an email address we can use to ask about this? I didn't hear this at my AC but if true I'd definitely want to reduce the number of locations I've put down.

This was their statement regarding the matter in 2017. Taken from their Facebook page:

All you need to know - Strict Merit Order
All places on TSP will be offered on a strict merit order basis in accordance with the Civil Service Recruitment Principles.
Places are offered based on stage 3 rankings and location preferences.

The highest ranked candidate will be placed first at their preferred location, followed by the next ranked candidate and so on.
If we are unable to place a candidate in their preferred first location, due to being over subscribed, we will offer the candidate their second choice and so on.
If we are unable to place a candidate in one of their preferred locations, and they have indicated that they would accept an alternative location, we will offer them an alternative location.
If we unable to place a candidate in one of their preferred locations and they have indicated that they would not accept a location outside of their preferences, the candidate will wait on a reserve list until a preferred location becomes available following accepts and declines of offers. If a preferred location does not become available during the placement period , we may not be able to offer you a place on TSP.
A candidate may update their preferences by emailing [email protected] with their updates to the preference form completed at the HMRC Assessment Centre.
The higher you finished at the HMRC Assessment Centres does increase your chances of being offered a place on TSP at one of your preferred locations.
Thank You

Surely if your successful you want to be considered for more locations, and not be put on a reserve list because you've not listed the location that is available and 19 people have done better than you and have therefore filled up your selected locations. Does that make sense ? Lol

Nope! Lol.

Some people can't just go anywhere, for any number of personal reasons. Candidates will often choose only one location because it's the only one they can really work in. It may mean they don't get a place and someone below them on the merit list does, but them's the brakes.

That’s what I mean, so if you can go somewhere else it’s in your best interest to consider it. Your right though, for some people that would be difficult - Just thinking of people travelling all the way from Belfast.

This is going to be a longgggggg couple of weeks.

I wonder if the results will be delayed due to the rescheduled assessment centre (as all candidates will surely need to be ranked in merit order?)

Thanks for this Chris. It clears up some questions I had. They didn’t really explain it fully at my AC.

I’ve only put down 2 locations. Would love to put more but with kids and a mortgage it’s not really feasible!!

Trinity Bridge house is one - not sure if there's others. Manchester Regional centre hasn't been announced
