Increase living finance

Hi i am singleparent on low income, my son will start uni and he just tell me abouth his living loan he was approve £5000 which is a lot of money thank you, he said he will pay his rent/student hall (126w) so there is not much for him to live on.He will find a work soon as he setle down in comletely new city. My question is can he increast the living loan aftere he was approve the amount above.

In England you get up to £8430 in maintenance if your household income is below £25,000 (low income). If he has been correctly income assessed then you can't increase the amount.

my mum makes 24,000 and i got 8955, but my dad passed away so i think that may be why
