Be interesting to hear from folk doing Vet med here! I am at the start of the journey aged 32 doing IGCSE with a view to going here.

 I am just about to start a GCSE in Biology then onto A level. Doing it via Oxford Open Learning. Will do the same for Chemistry and Physics.

However unsure where I stand due to the uni getting back to me;

One of requirements for admission to study at UVMP in Košice is Full Secondary Education or Full Specialised Secondary Education qualification with minimum of 3 years duration . Applicants to study must submit qualification document proving their eligibility to study at the institution within higher education system.

I am sending an examples of recognised qualifications:
A levels, BTEC level 3 extended diploma, Cambridge Pre-U, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma ...

Reads to me the qualifications need to be attained during school!

Hiare you planning on the 6 year program or the 4 years program?
6 year.
I have applied for the 4 year program but haven’t heard anything yet. On the website it says to email in, but it doesn’t specify what email, does anyone know?

cheers, she emailed me back not long after i posted!

Congrats! Do you have any idea about final year placements? a couple of my friends studied vet med in Budapest and they were allowed to do their placements in their country of origin if they wanted. Would be pretty cool/useful if Kosice allowed this!

Final year is split into blocks so you do two weeks of lectures and then a six week block of practicals in Horses, Ruminants, Smalls and Pigs. All the practicals must be completed at uni as it's what will be examined but you also have to do some placements at home and can be at specialist clinics according to your interests.
I think at Budapest they have a whole semester of placements which is when they can do them elsewhere.

After summer of 4th year you need to see practice at home, most people go beyond the minimum which is currently 2 weeks. I try and see practice every time I'm home and usually do about 9 weeks.

so out of the entire 4th year there's only 6 weeks of blocks in total, in 4 different subjects? meaning the rest of the year there's regular classes ?
No, in final year you 'only' have four State exams. You have two weeks of lectures, six weeks of clinic/practical classes then a State exam, repeat for each species... so four blocks of six weeks.

You also have to complete and defend your Diploma Thesis and do any optional subjects you take.

Oh , So it's four times six weeks of practical blocks + 4X2 weeks of lecutres for each subject in total , makes more sense ( i thought its just 6 in total)
and besides the practical blocks theres still optional subjects classes and exams like in the first 3 years + depending your thesis during that year
Sounds exhausting !
and during the summer you have to do a block at your home country at any clinic you choose ?
Thanks for clearifying
So I've just read some conflicting info about whether or not Kosice is EAEVE accredited... can anyone confirm either way?
Kosice are EAEVE Approved and Accredited as of November 2016 and granted until October 2025, see here

The EAEVE website isn't very easy to use and because they upload documents rather than updating webpages, the old ones come up first on Google.
Brilliant thank you, found out today that I’ve got a place on the 4 yr course if I want it... now to find funding 😂

I'm looking into applying to start the 4 year Vet Med course in Sept 2018. Hate to bring it up but does anyone know what happens once the UK leaves the EU? Will fees stay the same?

UK too. I went out to Kosice open morning this weekend to have a look. Are you definitely planning to start there in September?
