Hurricane Irma, a Category 5 hurricane with wind-speeds of more than 180mph struck Florida in 2017, leaving 39 dead and a damage of more than 50 billion dollars. Hurricane Matthew, a Category 5 hurricane with wind-speeds of 160mph, struck Haiti one year earlier in 2016, leaving 546 dead and a cost of 1.9 billion dollars. How can two such similar hurricanes have such different impact?

-health care
-infrastructure and telecommunication
-terrain and landscape
-sanitation, sewage,water supply
-urbanization
-GBP (wealth)
-structure of the economy

The main factor here is economic development, Florida is a lot more economically developed than Haiti - what does this mean for all of the things you mentioned? It might also be useful to have a look at some photos of both areas to help you get to grips with things such as their terrain, urbanisation, infrastructure, etc.
