Solids and liquids have molecules which are close together, whereas gases have large spaces between moluecules.
Solids have molecules which are only able to vibrate around a point, liquids have molecules which move around each other, and gases have molecules which move quickly in all directions.

Specific heat capacity is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1kg of a substance by 1K (1 Kelvin).
Specific latent heat is the amount of energy needed to change 1kg of a substance from solid to a liquid WITHOUT changing its temperature.
These values change for each substance.

No problem! Most people know it intuitively but find it hard to put into words
