AQA English Literature (A) - Coursework

Time's ticking away and I have to decide on which two texts to do quickly.
I would quite like to do The Bell Jar, but I'm not sure what with.
I was thinking of a Streetcar named desire, and comparing Esther and Blanche, but I'm worried that they may be too similar (both 20th century American novels) and also that perhaps Blanche and Esther are too wildly different.
If anyone has any advice, I'd be very grateful. What's everyone else doing?

I haven’t got any advice. :frown: But Tennessee Williams rocks! And what exam board are you on that allows you to choose your texts?!

Hey! I did the AQA module last year and chose Naboklov's 'Lolita' and John Fowle's 'The Collector' comparing the theme of obsessive love. It all worked out for me cos 'Lolita's' my fav book n I knew it inside out, and in the end I got full marks!
A friend of mine goes to a different college and they had set texts to compare; emma and breakfast at tiffany's I think. Personally I'm glad they gave us freedom to choose cos it makes learning more independent and less spoon fed...

Soooo advice... are u doing the war in lit module too? I can't stress enuf how brill it would be to compare two war novels, as u will learn them inside out and find the exam sooooooo much easier. Plus your cutting back on your workload by killing two birds with one stone!! Just an idea...

Thanks for the advice but war literature doesn't interest me enough to base two whole modules on it.
I've decided on The Bell Jar and The Yellow Wallpaper.
