Hi I have a friend who already paid a deposit for a house last week. The estate agent then told yesterday someone else signed the contract and says my friend has to move somewhere else. Did the estate agent breach any laws? Please help

I'm not sure of the precise legal position, but at the least your friend should get their deposit back. Is the estate agent refusing to return it?

Make sure she gets the deposit back but frankly if that's the way the landlord operates your friend may have dodged a bullet, she's probably better off out of there and should just find something else.
