When a solid changes it's state from a solid to a liquid, it must absorb enough thermal energy to overcome the latent heat of fusion. i.e. the temperature of the solid reaches a plateau and does not increase further because any additional thermal energy is used to break the atomic bonds holding the solid together.

The question refers to the thermal capacity only, which is the energy required to raise a specific mass of that solid by 1oC.
