I've had a Nokia Lumia 520 for about 3 years and have grown bored of it. It's in excellent condiiton, but has stopped being updated ages ago, there are hardly any apps, and it doesn't have a front camera/flash LED/ any other cool stuff.

Because I'd like an upgrade, but don't quite need one, I've been looking at phones at the £50 mark.

I've already looked at iPhones: The iPhone 4 is about £45 on eBay but isn't much of an upgrade to my current phone. 16gb iPhone 5c is about £60.

Android/Samsung phones seem to be the best idea, but there sre so many.

Anyone have any suggestions?

You're going to struggle to find a phone for £50 which is still being updated/supported. I'd recommend saving money for a reasonably new phone. You can get some pretty good phones (particularly Chinese) for around £100.

I'm not sure what world you're living in where you think you can get a smart phone for under £50.

I've already mentioned that there are iPhone 4s for about £45 on eBay, used. Envirofone has the Nokia Lumia 830 for £60, refurbished, too. We must be in seperate worlds.

Those are the sort of things I am looking for; it doesn't have to be completely up-to-date, just better than what I've already got. And cheap.

Just looking for suggestions, particularly with Android phones seeing as they are the most numerous.

The iPhone 4s isn't supported any more (i.e. You're going to struggle getting the most basic of apps)

My 1st Gen Moto G is still holding up today. It's showing its age no doubt, but it's generally capable of keeping up with modern apps to some degree.

Add £50 and you can get a really good phone. £50 is simply too cheap for a good smartphone.

Don't expect anything powerful or on par with even a mid-range phone (iPhone 5-tier/S4-tier)
I would suggest that you buy a used phone in your area (Facebook groups), or buy Chinese things on Ebay.

save up and go for a £150 one for instead, will last u for 3 years easily. £50 ones will last a year if ur lucky and they won't be very useful either.
