In terms of safety, explain why:

a) The reactor core of a nuclear reactor is in a thick steel vessel surrounded by concrete walls

b)The coolant circulates through sealed pipes to and from a heat exchanger

c) The control rods may need to be inserted completely into the reactor core

Please help me with this

To be perfectly honest and without meaning in any way to be rude, this is the type of question you should not need any help with.

All of the information you need can be found in your text books or on the internet.

Google and Wiki are your friends. I typed "Nuclear Reactor" into Google and got:

https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_reactor

http://www.world-nuclear.org/informa...-reactors.aspx

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_reactor

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclea..._safety_system

Is this for GCSE? I remember doing this but my memory is a bit fuzzy.

a) the concrete is thick enough to prevent all types of radiation. paper will stop Alpha particles, aluminium would stop Beta particles and concrete would stop Gamma rays

b) not 100% sure about this but I think it’s needed to keep the reactor cool and prevent a nuclear meltdown?

c) the control rods absorb neutrons to control the reaction

Unfortunately your response shouts out to everyone that all you are interested in doing is getting someone else to do the work for you.

I think you may have just put the nails in your own coffin as far as further help is concerned.

Anyway your links never helped, but I searched the question up on Google and had answers. I don't want anyone to do work for me, if that's the case I would want them to explain it before they do that.

Polite advice: lose the attitude and you will find people are more responsive.
