Hi, I need some help quite urgently.
Does anyone know if one needs to open up a student account to receive student finance payments? If I don't have a student account will the payment go in my normal current bank account or will I not receive anything at all?
I'm leaving to university tomorrow with not a lot in my bank account and my bank appointment for opening a student account is on Thursday, but I think the process of opening the account is quite long which means I may receive my payments late.
So what I need to know is - will I still get paid if I don't have a student account?
Thank you.

Also what are the disadvantages of not having it in a student account?
Thank you Shaun.

Will it get paid in there automatically or do I need to tell SFE or anything like that?
Also what are the disadvantages of not having it in a student account?
Thank you Shaun.

We will pay into the account you have on the student finance page.
The benefits would be best discussed with the bank offering the the account.
Warm regards,
Shaun.
