Hess' law or Born-Haber Cycle

3 Calculate the lattice enthalpy of calcium iodide given that its enthalpy of solution is –120kJmol-1 and the enthalpies of hydration of calcium and iodide ions are –1650 kJ mol-1 and –293 kJ mol-1 respectively.

How do you work this out? I have written the values and tried to go various routes but I don't get the answer of -2116 kJ mol-1.

How do you know what route to take?

Is this Hess' Law or Born-Haber Cycle? What are there differences

You use born-haber. As calcium is in group two the formula for calcium iodide is CaI2, i suspect that u forgot to double something.
