The Student Room Group

introvert/extrovert living!

I'm a very introverted person sharing a house with a very extroverted person. I like peace and quiet and activities like hiking and swimming. She likes clubbing and bars and always socialising. Which is fine, however she doesn't seem to recognise my need for space. I have gone along and socialised on a few occasions because it's important to compromise and push yourself. But despite saying I don't enjoy those activities and that I need alone time to recharge, she keeps pushing me to go out clubbing and join societies with her. I think she means well, it's nice that she invites me but I don't know how to get her to understand that the things she finds fun and enjoyable are the opposite to the things I find fun and enjoyable! I was excited to get out of student halls and live in a house but I'm finding myself exhausted already. Any advice?

Maybe you could do a thing where you go to one of her activities and she goes to one of yours. Take it in turns so none of you feels left out.
