Internatonal student, got an offer at Nottingam. Did not go through UCAS, Got the offer directly from the university through clearing. But unable to obtain a visa on time, so decided to drop. I have received a mail asking me if the offer could be deferred to 2018. My question is, if I said yes, will I be able to apply to other universities for 2018 entry or should I necessarily withdraw from this offer?

If it was outside ucas then they wouldnt know.

If you canceled it then you couild apply through ucas and have your other 4 choices as well.

If you decided to keep it and apply though ucas then you could say you changed your mind and hope they release you. bear in mind that nearer the time unis will start asking for non returnable deposits and advanced payments.

You could ask them how long the offer is open for because you are going to have a look around at all unis in your field. They should be fine with that. You already know you made the grade with them for an offer.
