I'm an Yr 12 now doing my AS levels & my problem is when I revise something from before I can barely retain it and then when bombarded with new information from school I find it hard to remember & learn a concept without forgetting what I learnt prior whether in a different subject or the same subject.

You don't have to have the concept stuck in your head straightaway. I actually found it easier to learn a whole topic, find out the types of questions that I'll be asked on it then learn and commit to memory what I think is needed and absorb it in a structured way where things link to each other. E.g in literature I would learn a quote but also learn the context and criticism that somewhat relates to the quote instead of learning them separately and having to link them in the exam.
