Natural Sciences personal statement watch

    • Thread Starter

    Dear Cambridge,

What do you look for in a Natural Sciences personal statement? I understand that we must explain our interest in the subject, our reasons for wanting to study, etc., Do we also talk our personal achievements that may not be directly connected to the course, but more about ourselves as a candidate? Such as sports achievements, playing instruments, tutoring, part-time jobs, committees etc

    Thank you. :-)

A Nat Sci PS will often be based around one specific science as that what you're applying for elsewhere. That's absolutely fine and there's space in the SAQ for a Cambridge-specific PS to talk about the Nat Sci course if you wish. We want to see evidence that you've thought about what doing science at university will involve and how you've prepared, in and out of the classroom, for that. It's fine to mention extra-curricular activities but, at Cambridge, we're not going to take them into account in admissions decisions. We're interested in super-curricular exploration of your subject beyond the classroom, which can be done in a myriad of ways and which is up to you.
Do you think parents should charge rent?
