Is going to NCS really important for Uni applications?

I'm in year 12...and NCS came to give a talk and I don't really want to go...but they make it sound so important and they said that UCAS find NCS as really important ...is it really needed for uni applications??

They dont give a ****. All unis care about is grades and personality.

You won't be disadvantaged by not doing it. NCS is a great experience but it probably won't do much for a uni application.

Most Unis are not as impressed by DoE and NCS as schools like you to think.

If you don't want to do it, it isnt going to make any difference to your future.

No, they unis don't care about that. I don't think. I got all 5 offers and I forgot to mention I did NCS. Yet, you need to make sure you've done lots of other stuff instead of that. I had or was already doing lots of other extra-curricular activities that I could talk about in my personal statement so NCS wasn't that important.

However, I would strongly suggest that you do go. For life experiences. I went and I was so nervous about spending 4 weeks with people I didn't know but you get to make great friends and you do so much fun stuff. e.g. PGL type activities Everyone is very supportive and nice.

Not very useful for uni, but consider what evidence you've got that show skills for employment. NCS, DofE, YE etc can all be very valuable in giving evidence of transferable skills to get that first job.
