    Well if you thought about it as a right angle triangle with the hypotenuse length = 800 and θ = 30° would you be able to sort it out?

    yeah, that's the right idea - but check which trig function you need to get the side that's parallel to the plane's velocity.

    usually written as 800 cos 30 though, to make it very clear that you're taking the cosine of 30 and then multiplying by 800 and not multiplying 30 by 800 and then taking the cosine of that.
