This is the link to last years thread: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4429544

Hi! When does the actual application process start for UCL PG? And when is the deadline?
Hi, I'm applying for MRes in Biosciences. About to complete my BSc here in Finland with an equivalent of a strong first. Not sure what they expect from international students though (apart from official requirements).

It depends on the programme. You can see in the application system that several programmes are already accepting applications. For mine, application period will open on 16 Oct. The deadlines are around July, but the admission may close earlier if the programme is full before the deadline.

I'm an international student and i'm applying to the Msc. in Data Science and Machine Learning course. However, I don't have high hopes as the minimum entry requirement for my country is 80% and I only have a 76.5% average (even though i'm in the top 10 of my class which makes the 80% minimum very frustrating- barely two students get 80+ every year!!). Does anyone know a person who got an admission with less than the minimum requirement? Do you think that my chances would be better applying to a different course? ( I'm considering Web Science and Big Data Analytics or Computational Statistics and Machine Learning) or should I just not apply? Any advice would be appreciated.

Greetings from another international! Where are you from? For my country, Finland, the requirement is usually 4/5, which also in practice translates to at least 80%. I do not think it is even near the same as UK percentages though - I would not consider scoring 70 % particularly good here. I have GPA of 4.92/5 and I am still nervous.

Oh and also from what I have read from last year there was plenty of applicants for machine learning courses, so maybe DSML is just one of the more competitive ones?

Hello there! I think that you should be on the safer side having a good GPA. I'm from Syria, and the system here is so messed up that there are huge differences in how easy/hard it is to get a high percentage in different universities. For example, 80% is really easy to get in most private unis and could be done with minimal effort whilst it is REALLY difficult to get in state unis (barely a 1-2% chance someone gets 80%)... I realize that the course is very competitive which makes me doubt even more if it's even worth trying to apply... *sigh* My next choice is KCL but I have no info on how good/bad the Data Science MSc course is there. Their minimum req. is 75% so I might have a better shot. Good luck on your admission !

Hey, I am also an international student from Bolivia

Just today I started my application for Msc Health, Wellbeing and Sustainable Buildings , in the architecture school.
Any suggestion about the process will help me a lot!

Succes to all of us!

Well I have a friend in the Arch. school and he told me that the process is just really long... like not difficult but it requires lots of patience as it take 6-8 weeks for every update (they might interview you.. ask for samples of your work... etc) so as long as you're expecting that and not stressing out to hear back from them quickly you should be fine. Good Luck!
Hi all,
It seems like I couldn't find the link for the application of the above program. Anyone can help me paste the link here? I am keen to apply for MSc Business Analytics 2018/2019 program. Thanks a lot!
Hey, it seems that MSc Economic Policy has been cancelled - no option to apply and they've taken the programme webpage down. Anyone know if this really is the case or is there something I don't know?

The information on the program is still in UCL official web. Alternatively, you may email them directly and ask. [email protected]

Good luck!
I just realised btw that they only send reference requests after the applicant has submitted the final application, so the applicant and their referees can't be working on their texts at the same time 🙍🏼 I've already asked both of my referees but now they'll have to wait until I finalise my app.

What are you applying? I am going for MSc Business Analytics (with specialisation in Management Science).

Yes that is the flow. I submitted my application yesterday and only today both of my referees responded to UCL. So right now my application is complete. Good luck to you!

Your referees were pretty fast if it took them one day to write a letter for you 😏 Good luck! I am applying for MRes in Biosciences. Too bad I had not realised before that applications started at the same time as the exam week, now I am stuck with all multitasking!

I already informed them to prepare one, way in advance. Once they received the email, they straight away do it so that they don't forget!
Applied to MSc Space Science earlier this week, waiting for my references to come in
Yay I applied too  So what's up with Portico? Isn't it where they'll be updating your application status?

And hey, what about application fee? Wasn't asked to pay at any stage  EDIT: "There is no application fee for Master of Research (MRes) or postgraduate research programmes (MPhil/PhD)."
