Hi, guys,

I moved schools when I was in Year 8 because the second school one seemed like a great school. From Year 8 we have been having half term tests, every six weeks, so as a year group we have been used to learning everything short term.

There are 7 months until GCSEs, and I'm very confused on how I get the best grades possible. This is a new school, so we are the set of Year 11's.

1.) I had a new French teacher, but she left after 2 weeks of starting her job in September. I don't have a French teacher at the moment.

2.) All the teachers are leaving and stressed because they are having to cover multiple lessons, be on call and teach all throughout the day.

3.) I have asked my teachers MULTIPLE TIMES print me out past papers, but they keep saying "I'll do it tomorrow"

4.) Not a single teacher, has been able to tell me what I have to revise for my November Mocks. Do I revise as if it were my actual GCSEs? Do I revise certain topics?

5.) I am being taught A-LEVEL content such as "Principles of homeostasis and negative feedback" because the school wants to "go above and beyond" but we still haven't been able to master the GCSE content.

Parent's and Students have complained multiple times to teachers, but they have been telling us to tell the Head Teacher. (We can't face to face because he's based at another building.

1.) 7,8,9 are in one building.
2.) 10, and 11 are in one building.

The buildings are 7 minutes apart.

I'm doing 11 subjects, and we have sets for core subjects only. I'm in set 2 for everything, except English. I really want to do great, and get the best possible grades.

Any advice on how I can handle this situation?

Thanks,

Afrina

Hi
!) Print past papers for yourself, there are lots of websites that offer many past papers
2) You are doing the new 9-1 spec so few topics that was in A levels have come down to Gcses. I didnt even know what homeostasis was until i did it at school.
3) I do not know what exam board you doing for each subject so check out the specification for each subject to find out which topics are for which exam. For example, i do aqa and we will do 2 papers for biology. The first paper contains the first 4 topics of the course and the second is the last 3.
4) Start revising early as possible to do the best you can.

Hi!

Honestly, just put in the work and try your very hardest and you'll always end up getting what you work for. Sounds annoying and harsh, but I've had to learn it the hard way in year 11.

TIPS:
1.) Use MathsWatch/Hegarty Maths
2.) Do practise questions
3.) Go on Maths Genie and do multiple past paper questions

Homeostasis and negative feedback aren't A-Level subjetcs, they've been there always, but they've been adjusted to match with the new A-Levels, extra information have been added into the GCSE's that would make the jump from GCSE and A-Level easier

Learn the spec !! It has the information they will test you on most of the time in class/in revision books it’s extra information which they won’t test you on
