    Hi,

I am an international student who is applying to the UK for undergraduate studies. I am required to sit for the IELTS, and must bring an overall band score of 7.0 (with at least 7.0 on each individual subject). Does a higher score increase my acceptance chance or does a person with a score of 8.5 (for example) have the same chances as someone with a score of 7.0 (since they both obtained 7.0 or higher)?

    Many thanks

    Hiya:hi:

I've popped your thread into this sub-forum where hopefully you'll get the replies you're after.

I would expect the IELTS to be a standard thing for all international students in given scenarios qualifications pertinent to your subject will carry greater weight than IELTS I should expect.:yep:

You merely need to attain the standard set by the uni so they can issue your CAS to support your visa application. They wont be bothered about how far you exceed it by.

Your other qualifications will influence your chances of an offer.

Your IELTS scores just need to be above the threshold set. If you exceed that level it wont change your changes of an offer.

A student who gained 7 has the same chance with a student who gained 8.5 or even 9! In today's world, as long as you have the money to enrol, you are qualified. LOL!

Nah, kidding aside... as long as you meet the minimum threshold, you're both in. Of course, better to have an above average score for self confidence since you are an international student.
