choose 5th uni choice based on social life or goals? watch

    • Thread Starter

I'm applying for dentistry at 3 universities, and anatomy/human biology at Liverpool.
For my 5th uni choice, I don't know whether to apply for another dentistry course or another anatomy course. If I applied for DENTISTRY at Bristol uni, i'd stand a great chance of getting accepted since my grades and personal statement is really strong. Plus, more applications to dentistry schools = a better chance of being accepted and achieving my dreams of becoming a dentist. The cons of applying for Bristol, though, is that the city doesn't appeal to me at all. It's not as modernised as I like, nor crowded, nor as ethnically diverse- white people make the majority (78%). Nothing wrong with white people- don't come at me calling me a racist. I just appreciate being in an area full of culture.
If I apply to Birmingham, i'd apply for anatomy. The cons: I'd have to do graduate dentistry, which ultimately just takes longer to achieve my dreams. The pros: I know lots of people there, a city that appeals to me, ethnically diverse, cheaper, actually have an interest in anatomy.
So, I'm conflicted on whether I should choose my last choice based on having a good time or putting the student life aside and apply based on what I'm really after- becoming a dentist, but risking applying somewhere I might end up hating.
Just to add, I've visited Bham and love it there. I haven't visited Bristol but from what ive seen, read and heard, im feeling iffy.
To be very honest, I'd rather apply for Birmingham but im held back by the idea of more years in university.
(Cant apply for bham for dentistry because they don't accept people who take longer than 2 years to complete a levels, im taking 3 because picking up chemistry in my gap year)
Do you think parents should charge rent?
