Imagine being threatened with violence, told your office would be destroyed and then getting death threats, just because you’re a Tory supporter. This was the case for the president of a Conservative Association at a leading university – and happened just because he asked his opponent, the president of the Labour Association for a healthy debate. There have been a number of recent articles in the press highlighting the struggles that Conservative-supporting students have. This is not only with expressing their opinions but at some universities, attempts have been made, in some cases successfully, to completely silence them.

WTF, TSR makes an official article defending freedom of speech? That is critical of safe spaces?

And I thought 2017 couldn't get any stranger...

It's a sponsored feature on TSR, by SOAS University of London. It doesn't represent TSR's views if they have any. Or maybe it does, no way to tell.

Any uni students here, what's life like for a Tory at yours these days? Is there a problem or not?

Freedom of speech is an ever present issue, that makes it a current affair. There is a funny atmosphere in politics these days.

If your opinion is "I don't care about other people" then most of us would prefer it wasn't heard tbh

Antonio Gramsci would have been proud of his disciples and what they have achieved so far, the creation of safe-areas and de-platforming are truly evolutionary steps for the cause.

Their sympathetic media, the education system, the world of arts in general, public institutions, all well on every front.
