Does anyone know of any design based degree level apprenticeships? Ive had a look and not found much. Mainly looking in the field of architecture, interior design or graphic design? I understand there aren't many out there any help would be appreciated.

There won't be much in architecture or interior design I imagine - although realistically there should be, as for the former I can't see why it isn't a valid alternative route to qualification and for the latter I would suggest would be much more relevant and appropriate than an academic design degree in subject. A shame, really.

For graphic design, there are some. However, they tend to be extremely popular due to students wanting to go into the field, and are often not explicitly stated to be graphic design - for example "content and marketing", "digital apprentice", "junior content creator" "digital designer" are all apprenticeships currently available that are relevant (they may not be near you though). Most of the relevant ones will probably be under "Arts, Media and Publishing" or possibly "Information and Communication Technology" - the latter being some more specific, computing focused things, like computer graphics and gaming industry roles.

Architecturally related, the closes you'll probably get is quantity/building surveying apprenticeships - which aren't design based.

    Hi ahmed23,

Sadly there aren't that many apprenticeships out there for the creative industry but I thought you might like to hear about Ravensbourne. We are a specialised design and media institution located in Greenwich, London. Our courses are highly industry focused and we encourage our students to be working independently as freelancers or at a company interning while doing their BA. We also encourage our students to work on competition briefs and live projects from industry to get their work and name out before they graduate.

Our open space plan allows for a collaborative environment where you can learn and meet other students from different courses in the creative industry. This will also help you build your network for the future when you are out in the industry working. Our BA Architecture course offers trips and various industry standard live briefs and competitions. Our students work in state of the art facilities on creative projects throughout their time with us.

We also offer Foundation courses, free of charge if you are under 19, that you might like to try for a year to help you build up your portfolio and skills. It will also be a good idea if you are looking to go straight into industry without a degree to have that year to build your network and get internships.

I suggest coming to one of our open days to meet the tutors and talk to current students about their projects and their time here.

I hope this has helped, feel free to ask any questions.

    Row and Aliya
