What political change happened in 1929? Apart from the Wall Street Crash, nothing comes up when I search it and it isn't in out textbooks

Does anyone also know how the economic situation in Germany after the Wall Street Crash led to a growth in support of communism?

Its really to do with the fact that because of the Crash and subsequent depression then the Communists appealed to the working class and unemployed about the failings n the capitalist system , which was to blame for all their woes. At the time Communists were more popular than the Nazis an direct rivals.
