When should I start using them?

We had some reccommended books and I have started typing the written notes from lectures, should I read the relevant section of the textbook as I type these?
Should I be making separate notes from the books always as we go through each topic?
Or will we get set work whereby the answers will be detailed in the textbooks.

    Thanks in advance.

You want one set of notes. Make them to suit you.

If you make them at lecture then just supplement them with the textbook. its unlikely your lecture notes will be enough.

If you get set work then obviously you will need the more in depth information form the books and the library resources. No need to panic though and think you have to learn everything. learn the core stuff, basic principles first.
