I know that it shouldn't bother me but my boyfriend is dyslexic and the messages he sends me always have loads of mistakes in them - for example, "love you to". We are currently doing long distance which I think makes it worse because we are messaging more. I just find it a big turn off that he misspells really basic things, am I being a horrible person for allowing this to bug me?

Yes you are, considering you're put off by his grammar mistakes despite the fact that he is dyslexic.

As above, yes. My wife is dyslexic so I'm completely unsympathetic about your attitude. He's probably cleverer than you, but has difficulty showing it in a world dominated by words.

You really are being horrible. Like what do you expect? He's dyslexic like you said. If you're not willing to accept that fact then I suggest you do him a favour and break up with him so someone else who is worthy of him could love him for he is.

If you understand him, what does it matter?

I know some people (who aren't Dyslexic) who use a bit of text speak or abbreviations in text messages. Not an issue because I understand them.

Did used to know people whose spelling was utterly awful. And that was when it became a problem.

Is the relationship rocky in other ways? Little irritations tend to creep in when you're falling out of love.
