basically I needed some work experience and I’m gonna shadow dentists and ask my local dentists and stuff and am currently volunteering every week in a care home (long term) but I wanted my application form to really stand out when applying to Queen Mary’s or kings so I searched up and found pre med projects- it’s basically a programme that gives you work experience which is different to normal work experience in the sense that the dentists who are specialists actually teach you some of the procedures and talk to you and explains the whole process. You visit over 5 Dental hospitals and You get to see up close how they deal with patients etc. And it isn’t in the UK it’s going to Thailand or India to do this, I was thinking of doing this as it shows commitment to dentistry and I can really have a feel as to what it’s like rather than following dentists around in the UK. It’s for 2 weeks- is it worth it or is it a waste of money? You obvs get a reference and certificate at the end.

It's definitely a waste of money, many of the UK dentist's will also explain the procedures carefully if you asked after the surgery. Not to mention the standards of dentistry in countries like India and Thailand are far lower than in the UK
