Othello: Could you argue Iago is his own foil?

Iago is repeatedly linked to Janus the god of two faces. Could you argue that he is his own foil because of the two appearances he shows throughout the play?

Try it. It wouldnt surprise me if people have done so before or at least go heavily into his psychology. If you are going to say his own foil then you are going to have to convince that he plays off himself rather than adopting a deceitful side and his true self. I think its a bit of a stretch, maybe he eggs himself on as he is able to manipulate more and tries to outdo himself?
