Assuming by 'bte' you mean 'btec', colleges in my area offered Construction And The Built Environment with Architecture or Civil Engineering pathways. They've had people move on to study architecture and architectural technology at university, so BTECs are an option as far as I know. You'll be best off checking a handful of university websites for entry requirements. I was considering taking this pathway to study Architecture, but thought I'd have a much more rounded experience studying A Levels.

They may ask for a portfolio of work alongside, but AT is less focussed on the art side. Look into some examples of AT portfolios and start working on your drawing (particularly drawing from firsthand experience). Other people on here will be much more knowledgeable on Architectural Technology than I am, I only know about Architecture lol

    Hi Sam709,

While we do not specialise in Architecture Technology, have you considered BA (Hons) Architecture at Ravensbourne? We are like a big design agency where everyone studies a design-related subject and it is like a large community of designers and thinkers working within our interesting building. We are a close-knitted specialist institution that specialises in specific subjects in the design industry.

Two of Ravensbourne’s architecture courses have been prescribed as fulfilling the requirements needed to gain part one of a three part architecture qualification from ARB, the UK’s architects’ regulator. BA (Hons) Architecture and BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures (IDEA) will gain this qualification from Friday 1 June 2018 ensuring current first and second year students qualify with this on graduation. This qualification is part of a suite of qualifications which can be used for the purposes of registration as an architect in the UK.

Ravensbourne is also about employment and industry opportunities really as almost all tutors and lecturers come from practice and industry background and they might not be so much about teaching you history and theory or have an specific teaching method because that’s not their specialty, they teach you design, practice, employment and put you directly with their industry connections.

As for our entry requirements, students will normally be expected to possess five GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent (including English and Mathematics) and also to hold at least one of the following qualifications: 2 A levels (grade C or above); 4 AS levels (grade C or above); 2 vocational A level (grade C or above); Level 3 Foundation Diploma or National Diploma; Advanced Diploma (grade C or above).

    I hope that this helps.

Do let me know if you have further questions,

    -Monica

    Hi Sam709,

At Ravensbourne BA (Hons) Architecture and BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures are two separate degree courses. We also offer BA (Hons) Urban Landscape Architecture.

    Does that answer your question?
