If we are talking about reading it properly - as in understanding it and absorbing it well. Then that's pretty decent cuz i take longer (T^T).

I read slightly above average, I'd say 40-50 pages per hour. Most people are at about 25-35.

I'd say average, not worth to be concerned about.

same speed as I talk. Slower if it's a good book.

And I skim through stuff if its boring

I suspect it depends on content, at university some content could have me mastering only 4 pages in a whole afternoon.

The secret is to be able to vary the speed, say manage to skim read at high speed to find relevant content -say 100 pages an hour, read at slightly more normal pace -say 50 pages an hour, read at semi study pace- say 15-20 pages an hour, read considering every nuance of understanding, who knows how slow that can get.

Some ideas in philosophy and English Lit had me down at a very, very slow pace, some Economic History, especially say journal articles with data in statistical form (say wool export tables) could have me thinking about the data and formulating questions around the data for quite a long time, you really need to consider what is being read.

These days say reading Taxes Acts I can on odd occasions take forever just considering commas, colons and semi colons and whether subsection 1 (vi) can be interpreted in conjunction with 1 (ii) or is a clause apart re interpretation and meaning; context is everything.
