Applying to Uni with grades predicted lower than requirements... Watch

    • Thread Starter

After barely passing the AS year with CDD and a Pass in ICT I'm worried I will get no offers. I am assuming my predicted grades will be BCC, however, I have not been told yet. At GCSE I had 1 A*, 3 A's, 2 B's and 2 C's. The reason for my poor grades was a death within my family (4 weeks before exams, 1 which I spent in my home country for the funeral) amongst other things I don't want to disclose. I want to apply for Journalism and my top choice Uni is asking for AAB. Is it worth that I apply or mention why I did poorly at AS level? My other choices ask for BBB, BBC and 80 tariff points. Thankyou in advance!

I would say that it is worth a shot. Probably ask your teachers to mention the difficult times of the bureavement in your academic reference as to why you have under achieved and work harder this year to achieve those grades.
