Asexuals

Poll

Do Asexuals exist?

Do people believe this orientation exist? For those that say no. What's your reasoning when there are many people (granted 1% population) that say they do exist?

Another important question is... do you think it's possible to have a romantic relationship without the sexual tones?

Asexuality implies reproduction with oneself by splitting in half.

Pretty tricky stuff.
No it doesn't. Some plants are asexual and do not do that. It implies that the individual does not partake in sex.

No, it's the name given to themselves by people who don't feel they have a sex drive, literally "without sex". You're thinking of asexual reproduction.
Excellent.

I'll call myself asexual then. So pleased to be proved wrong.
While it's a real orientation, it's really rare for obvious reasons (self-negatively-selecting)

It would certainly make life a lot simpler for people :P although then you'd be at a higher risk of prostate cancer because you'd feel hardly any urge to relieve yourself....

I thought someone was trying to be funny by creating this thread and wanted to give a scientific name to masturbation.
My trick is, I claim to be asexual; I can't get laid... However, come the time, I may suddenly get this sex-drive business. Unfortunately, the trick isn't doing me any favours, nor has it for the past 17 years.
I don't know why on earth you think a poll can decide whether people are capable of having a particular orientation. If someone doesn't have sexual desire for members of either sex, a poll isn't going to change how they feel.

I thoroughly disapprove of this thread.

Would someone claim to be an asexual and then say they don't exist... meh
And no, I don't believe they exist...

I knew I should've researched it before posting that or atleast reworded my post meanwhile.

I never claimed that I could change others, I'm just asking what people feel about idea. On that note, I realised adding the last option was just stupid. @_@;
I am asexual
Asexual predator?

What I mean is that it's obviously completely pointless having a vote on something which is an individual trait. You can't have a vote on whether individuals are capable of having a particular sexual orientation; whether they do or not is a feature of their personalities and you can't invalidate that by having ignorant students claiming that they're just confused or deluding themselves. Some people do not feel sexual desires and therefore they are asexual - this is undeniable, so a poll is pointless.

Alright I accept that I've gotten the title wrong. It should be changed to whether students believe they exist or not.
It can be a study on what people think as well, so I wouldn't call it entirely pointless.

You don't need to change the title for that.

How could one self define as asexual and yet not believe they exist?

Yep. I got the last section wrong, because I was too quick to post it. My bad... >.<
How do I get a mod to change it? PM? Warn the post?
