    Hi, erm i reread the question and i saw that for iron complex the ethanedioate ligand is a bidentate and since the charge is -3, there should be there ethanedioate ligands so 6 dative bond formed.. but why is the answer 3 coordination number only?

    The coordination number is 6.
    Coordination number is the total number of coordinate bonds around the metal ion. (This will only match the number of ligands if the ligand is monodentate).
