    Hello,
I'm having a bit of trouble with deciding what universities to apply to - especially with the UCAS deadline not too far away now.

I really love the ethos at the University of Essex, the liberal message being exactly what I would want from a uni - however, i'm thinking of ones a bit higher in league tables.

I'm looking at Manchester and Liverpool this month and I quite like the look of Newcastle but I would have to base that on what I've seen online only as I probably can't visit before January. I really want a university that is in a city, with older style buildings and a good reputation - I'm not too keen on studying in London due to the price and I don't live too far from there currently.

I want to study law and I have AAA at AS level.

Please give any suggestions! It would be realllly appreciated!

    Thank you!

Sorry that nobody has replied to you so far.

Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Bristol Leeds etc. are all in that stereotypical category of similar aged city university.

If you want to go slightly higher up the general university "reputation" scale then there are places like Edinburgh*, Durham and Warwick too.

*as I understand it, the Law course is somewhat specific to Scottish law in Edinburgh

Might want to think about places like Cardiff or Exeter too.

Don't know personally about particular Law courses and their reputations but if you have a quick look at some rankings (do not read anything into them) you should get a general sense of the sorts of universities you're looking for in terms of similar entry requirements.

P.S. Have requested that your thread gets moved sub-forum so that you'll hopefully get the replies you're after, and better informed ones than me.

hello, thank you for your response! maybe its my mistake and this isn't the best thread

I actually visited Manchester at the weekend and I am due to visit Liverpool this Saturday so hopefully that will help me make up my mind as for Bristol, Leeds and Birmingham I don't know too much about their law courses so I will have a look, thanks again for the advice! I will research those ones with a "better" reputation also - i've probably missed all of their open days but i'll have a look what people are saying about them on here
