So I've recently started year 11 and as eager as I am to study and work hard for all of my subjects including maths, I'm finding maths to be the most challenging to not only study for but also find motivation to study for it.

I'm in top set maths and all though I wouldn't call myself dumb there are times I feel silly in that class for not knowing certain things everyone else seems to know.

Maths is a subject I would really like to progress in but I am just finding it very hard to do so. If anyone had any advice on how I could improve or has advice on what they did to improve, i would appreciate it

I was in your position last year, I’m currently in Lower 6th and was in the top set in maths at my school last year. I was sitting next to my best friends who always consistently get top marks in homework and exams, whereas I always found that I consistently got worse marks than they did. This might sound really unhelpful but I just had to work at maths. If there was a bit I didn’t understand, I did extra practise in my own time, wrote notes on the content. If you are having problems with motivation, play some music, energetic, lively music is best.
    Hope that helps!
