If you have not yet submitted your UCAS application, remember the deadline is now less than a WEEK away.

Don't leave it to the last minute - there is nothing more stressful than trying to send it literally at the deadline and not being sure if its 'gone' or not. Especially if the UCAS site decides to crash because of the battering its getting on the last day ....

Those of us intelligent enough to apply for Oxbridge, medicine or dentistry have been extremely aware of this for months. This is a waste of a thread, you've helped nobody at all.

From the number of applications that always arrive after the deadline every year, clearly it is needed.

No harm in putting it out there.

That in no way states they didn't know when the deadline was, they could have been perfecting their personal statements or waiting for their references. If you're a candidate for one of these courses then there's no way your school/college hasn't told you when the deadline is hundreds of times (hopefully you've looked it up yourself as well). If you're applying independently then you should still know from the research you've done.

I think you are rather naively assuming that everyone applies from the sort of school where you get advice about this sort of thing.

Some people will be applying from schools with no previous experience of submitting Medicine applications, or from families where no-one has applied to any sort of University course before.

Our teachers told us that since we had an internal deadline on the 25th September to complete our whole application, they would officially send all early applicants on the 13th October. Teachers would have time to check all early applicants and write the academic references along with it.

So the stats don't really explain if one was lazy to leave everything to the last minute.

In 2015 only 40% of October deadline applicants applied in the last week. That difference isn’t solely down to applicants “perfecting their ps” or laziness.

You 3 might be all over the deadline - that doesn’t mean everyone is (and those with schools unused to meeting the early deadline or applying independently have a lot more to coordinate).

If this thread is no use to you then count your blessings and don’t click on it.

Come back to think about it, my school might be risking leaving all the early applications to the very end to send. 😫 What if UCAS decides to have maintenance then ... it would be horrible.

Where UCAS has had technical problems on the deadline day they've adjusted the deadline.

The real risk is if a school or college (or individual) has internet/network/IT problems that prevent things going in on time. Or staff illness/absence.

I'd say the fact that your school has said clearly that they'll be submitting on the 13th means that they're experienced with early deadline applications and have contingency plans if there's any problems.

Thank you for your comment
This soothed my worries 😃
Fingers crossed that they run smoothly then.

It's the deadline for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary degrees and also for applications to Oxford and Cambridge.

All other courses/universities are bound by the January 15 deadline (for equal consideration of applications) - although many will accept applications after that date.
